Requirements

Essential Functions
  • Apply conformal coating materials (e.g., acrylic, urethane, silicone) to PCB assemblies using automated and/or manual methods (spray, dip, or brush) per work instructions and engineering documentation.
  • Perform underfill, staking and encapsulation of components using epoxies, silicones, or other approved materials.
  • Follow proper masking and demasking procedures to protect keep-out areas during coating processes.
  • Setup, operate, and maintain coating equipment, including programming basic dispense patterns.
  • Inspect coated assemblies for coverage, thickness, and defects (e.g., bubbles, voids, bridging) using UV light, microscopes, and thickness gauges.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of workstations and tools.

Required & Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in conformal coating, staking, or encapsulation of electronic assemblies.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 requirements.
  • Ability to use hand tools (e.g., syringes, brushes), UV inspection lamps, and masking materials effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to work under magnification.
  • Able to read and follow written work instructions and process documents in English.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or medical electronics manufacturing is preferred.
  • Certification in IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 is preferred.
  • Experience operating automated conformal coating systems is preferred.

Work Environment/Physical & Mental Requirements
  • This position operates in a manufacturing assembly environment.
  • Requires standing/sitting for extended periods, using microscopes, and handling small tools.
  • Exposure to chemicals (solvents, coatings); proper PPE and ventilation provided.
  • Requires physical loading and unloading of PCB's weighing up to 10lbs.
