Job description: Horizon BCBSNJ employees must live in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut or Delaware Job Summary: This position is responsible for the initial review, scanning, indexing, and data entry of medical bills received from employers. Other responsibilities include handling incoming and outgoing mail, and providing administrative support to other departments at Horizon Casualty Services. Review, batch, scan, and index medical bills. Data entry of medical bill information into processing systems within prescribed time limits and quality standards. Research and obtain further information for incomplete documents. Purge both Closed and Central Medical Bill files monthly in accordance with company file destruction policy. Prepare outgoing mail for release on a daily basis. Assist Customer Service Team with backup phone coverage as needed. Provide administrative support to other departments within HCS. Perform other duties as requested by Manager. Education/Experience • High School Diploma or equivalent required. • Requires a minimum of (1) year of data entry. • Prefer work experience for an insurer, claim administrator or self-insurer. Prefers claims administration customer service experience. Knowledge • Preferred knowledge of CPT codes and ICD-10 codes • Must be proficient with the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products such as Word and Excel • Should be knowledgeable in the use of intranet and internet applications; including ability to navigate • Strong typing, data entry and keyboarding necessary Skills and Abilities • Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office Products such as Word and Excel • Must have the ability to work independently within the team with minimal supervision • Must be detailed oriented and have strong organizational skills • Must be customer service oriented • Must be flexible, adaptive, and decisive Salary Range: $34,400 - $45,045 ?This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
