Position Overview

We’re seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Office Assistant to support our Medical Billing & Collections team. In this essential role, you’ll handle administrative tasks, communicate with insurance providers, and assist in ensuring accurate billing and timely collections. Please note: this is a non-clinical position—no patient interaction is involved. This is an in-office position with no remote work available. We are located in the Kendall area of Miami, Florida.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit insurance claims (electronic and paper)
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
  • Review and correct billing errors prior to submission
  • Contact insurance companies, physician offices, and outside agencies to secure payments
  • Maintain follow-up logs to meet daily and weekly collection goals
  • Research and process appeals and denials
  • Post payments and reconcile accounts
  • Communicating with clients regarding billing inquiries
  • Answer phones and perform general clerical duties
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Support billing and collections team with administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a physician practice or collections office
  • Certification in medical billing or coding (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of insurance benefits and reimbursement procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multitask
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information
